In the Strength of God. Worship: August 28, 2022

Toothpick + Brick by Elizabeth Irene Architectural Sculptor

Maybe you have been impressed by some feat of strength like someone lifting a lot of weight or hitting a baseball really far for a home run. But, the most impressive power of all is the strength of Almighty God. His strength is so great that it can be seen in the humility of Jesus’ life. The strength of God can be seen in us as we walk in His humble way. God showed infinite strength in forgiving us. We show His strength whenever we use the great gift of forgiveness or express undeserved compassion and grace. God’s strength is living among us.

The Purifying Fire of God. Worship: August 14, 2022

Jesus could be gentle, but he also could be stern and deliberate when he wanted to be. This is God’s way. Wanting our purity and righteousness God will challenge us and affirm us. Like fire that has many good uses God’s will for us must be carefully watched and respected. “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him.” Psalm 103

The Blessing of Faith. Worship: August 7, 2022

Our faith in God is secure for many reasons. The history of what Jesus did and said gives us solid reason to believe in God’s amazing provision. We are also inspired to believe by the faith of other people who have believed. Great figures of faith from ancient times still speak to us and encourage us to believe. Maybe the faith of your grandparents or a good friend is inspiration for your faith. Consistently we see that God has had mercy on everyone who calls upon Him in faith. Our Spirit-given faith is always a blessing. We celebrate God’s faithfulness to us by our confidence in Him.

The Meaning of Life, Given by God. Worship: July 31, 2022

We need perspective. So often everything depends on how you look at it. From the most ancient of days searching souls have looked for the big picture that frames and clarifies how we think and feel. The writer of Ecclesiastes peels away the layers in his search: “Everything is meaningless” he says. Jesus picks it up from there: “This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God.” Jesus wants us to ask him, “How could we possibly be “rich toward God”? Jesus himself is the answer to this deepest of questions. In him we are given the greatest riches of life’s meaning.

Jesus Teaches Us to Pray. Worship: July 24, 2022

Jesus taught his disciples to pray. Jesus, it seemed, did everything prayerfully. In the prayer he taught his disciples he invites us to look at the world in wonderous gratitude. To speak his prayer is an exercise in confidence that God’s righteous goodness will prevail. Jesus’ prayer calls us to consider the opportunities we have to be compassionate and merciful, as we celebrate God’s consistent grace with us. He is telling us it is our wonderous privilege to speak with our Father in heaven.

Life Well Lived in God’s Spirit, July 10 Worship

From the ancient days when Moses met with God on the mountain, God has been offering us ideas and inspiration about how to live well. Jesus takes the questions of a curious man and expands the vision of what God sees as a life well lived. St. Paul helps us celebrate the life of faith we live with each other’s prayers and support. In God’s Spirit we are blessed with life lived well, today and forever.

God’s Consistent and Persistent Love of Life! Worship: July 3rd Worship

Have you have ever tried to plant something and make it grow? Maybe the process was nearly effortless and the growing thing shot up with ease. Or maybe, despite your best efforts at nurturing the plant, it just would not grow. Our Creator God is absolutely persistent in wanting to nurture life to its fullness. We might experience God’s love like a mother’s caring hug. At other times God sends us out with the confidence that we can share his love in gracious ways. God is consistent and persistent in his love of life.

God’s Direction. Worship: June 26, 2022 (Repost from 6/24/21)

God loves to see us thrive and grow. Jesus filled the ears of His disciples with ideas about growing. He gives us a vision of what God wants for us and how we can be blessed in His care. As we live in God’s grace, the Holy Spirit works in us and through us. God’s Direction for us is always good.

This week we are reposting a service from last summer. Please enjoy “Peace, be Still” the service description is listed below the audio.

"Do you not care that we are perishing?" The disciples' question resonates with anyone who has ever wondered if there is anyone who truly, personally cares about the struggles, troubles, and fears of our lives. When we face a stormy time of life, it can seem that no one cares.  Today Jesus answers the disciples with great compassion and power. With the wind howling, the boat taking on water, and the disciples afraid for their lives, Jesus speaks. "Peace, be still," He says to the wind and the waves.  All of nature must follow His command. The wind ceased.  There was a great calm.  Today His voice can reach the deepest part of our mind and spirit as we hear Jesus tell us “Peace, be still.”
